Crochet Flower

crocheting

This crochet flower is quick and fairly easy to make.

You will need to know how to work single crochet (UK double crochet) double crochet (UK trebles) and slip stitch.

It is suitable for a beginner who has attained a dregree of confidence and knows how to handle the hook and yarn well.

Use whatever hook and yarn you like. I have used double knitting (light worsted) yarn and a 5mm hook for the one in the photograph of the crochet flower purse

Make a slip knot with a large loop. make sure that you can tighten it using the loose end.

Don't worry about it being too big as you will tighten it later when you have finished.

Grip the knot firmly in the left hand (if you are right handed) Insert the hook into the loop and pull yarn through (one loop on hook)

Pull the yarn through again.

You can let go of the knot now.

Inserting the hook into the original large loop of the slip knot, make 6 single crochet (UK double crochet) into the loop.

Turn your work, but do not make a turning chain

work 1 single crochet, 1 double crochet (UK treble) 1 single crochet, 1 slip stitch all into the first stitch.

Repeat for remaining 5 stitches.

Join to base of first petal using a slip stitch

fasten off

Use a button in the centre to stitch to your item
