A selection of free crochet scarf patterns
Just a few
The multitudinous number of scarves it possible to make! I think it would possible to produce a whole website of just scarf patterns if I had the time. A scarf is a simple accessory, but there are a million and one variations. The variety and possibilities are amazing and infinite.
And the great thing is, its the perfect project for a beginner to try out new stitches techniques and yarns. Anyone can experiment with a scarf even if you're a beginner. Next time you see, hear of and want to try a new technique - make it up into a scarf
Basically - scarves are easy and fun to make. And always will make a welcome gift
They grow quickly as the rows are short
All you do is take some balls of yarn and a hook. Choose a stitch pattern you like the look of and would love to try. Make a chain the width you want your scarf to be (taking to account the multiple needed for your chosen stitch pattern) and you're away!
If your yarn is fancy you won't necessarily need titch pattern, or you could even be happy with just a plain stitch as with some of the patterns below
Of course there re variations on the long narrow strip type scarf
Scarves can be square or triangular. flat or lumpily textured. Fringed or curly. Straight or circular They can have buttons and ties, ribbons and bows. You can add hoods pockets and hand warmers.
The sky's the limit!
Let's begin with a....
Gosh this is a fancy one. It could take you a bit of time to make but is a lot easier than it looks. But would you dare to wear it!
One long loopy chain made with a single ball of feathery yarn
Super warm and easy to pop over your head to wear around your neck. Make it long enough and it will double as a hood
If you live in the UK like I do you will appreciate how useful a scarf can be even in the summer
Fun and colourful and made sideways
